Ban speech to “free it”…sadly, if we let ’em

Steve Chapman from the Chicago Tribune has a good piece today (entitled, “Enhancing Democracy by Banning Speech”) on the recent “Citizens” Supreme Court decision. Like many other states, Illinois already allows unlimited corporate and union expenditures during elections.

Funny thing is – the sky hasn’t fallen in Illinois (and elsewhere).  We still have Democracy.

Of course, liberty’s another matter, especially if politicians work to ban certain speech in order to “free it”.

Notes Chapman:

That’s the difference between a corporation and a government. A corporation can spend millions trying to influence your choices. A government, granted sufficient power, can just take them away.

Keep speaking, brother…that is, until the “Change agenda’s” speech police come trolling your way.
